Interview with Lali A. Love, Author of The Decoding of Jo: Blade of Truth

20 Jul 2021

What can you tell us about your new release, The Decoding of Jo: Blade Of Truth?

Thank you very much for this opportunity to showcase my new release. In the second book of the Ascending Angel Academy Series, the journey to enlightenment hastens as the eternal struggle between good and evil intensifies in parallel timelines. The De-Coding of Jo: Blade of Truth, examines the concepts of telepathy, shapeshifting, and time travel to understand the history behind the Galactic Battles between the sacred Light and Dark forces since the beginning of time. The main character, Jo, has to fulfill her second mission on Earth to pass the hall of learning stage of ascension and mastery while saving Mother Earth from being hijacked by malevolent entities.

The book incorporates self-realization modalities while dissolving the veil of judgment, toxicity, and eradicating mind control systems with the truth and emotional healing, clearing timelines and old grid patterns with ancient stargate light codes.

After Jo graduates from the first stage of the Angel Academy, Hall of Ignorance, she begins to discover her supernatural magical powers of clairvoyance. She realizes that Roma, a celestial Custodian of the Galaxy, has been captured and imprisoned on a remote island by dark Lizzie forces.

She telepathically communicates with Jo to guide her perilous mission activated by the StarSeed Quest. On a school trip to the Canary Islands, Jo and her friends discover that the Wizard of Bondage was operating a human trafficking ring as part of their sinister Lizzie agenda to hijack humanity’s existence in the astral realm with psychic warfare.

While Jo and her friends learn the truth about the Ancient Galactic Wars, they are targeted by wicked shape-shifting assassins and lured to a private compound where darkness reigns. Emotions, Reality, and Timelines collide as Jo is thrust into the center of an epic cosmic reboot. Will the Blade of Truth devour her Soul? Will the balance between light and dark finally shift?

What or who inspired you to become an author?

As a multi-genre writer, my mission is to enlighten, empower, and entertain my readers through relatable storytelling. I like to bridge metaphysical concepts with visionary fiction and to write inspirational and thought-provoking stories. My novels aim to serve as a catalyst for changing conversations about sensitive subject matter around childhood wounding such as abuse, rejection, loss, mental health, codependency, addictions, and feelings of unworthiness.

The prevalent themes of my fictional books are transformation, overcoming tragedy, self-love, forgiveness, and empowerment. I believe that it’s important to relay gripping stories that include diverse, inclusive relatable characters who undergo their internal struggles to heal the shadows within, as the protagonists fight evil with their eternal light force energy.

My books examine the fundamental nature of reality, existence, and the power of the Universal Laws of Energy. Through the use of metaphysics and energy transmutation, the protagonists expose evil out of the shadows and bring the truth into the light with self-love, vulnerability, and acceptance, to live in freedom, peace, and in harmony with the Universe.

In my daytime job, I have the pleasure and honor of working with our indigenous people who have relayed their cultural struggles and childhood obstacles. I have also met and worked with many incredible, resilient Souls in the LGBTQ2+ community that has gripped my heart, increased my knowledge, understanding, and empathy by elevating my awareness of their experiences. These incredible warriors triggered my own self-healing journey and inspired me to write empowering stories that illuminate humanity’s darkness.

The De-Coding of Jo: Hall of Ignorance is my first novel in the young adult category. It is a meld of fantasy, paranormal and science fiction, with a strong appeal to all readers (ages 14 years+). It is the first book of the Ascending Angel Academy series, released on August 1, 2020. It incorporates plot-driven and coming-of-age stories of diverse, gender-inclusive teenagers struggling with self-identity and a sense of belonging. I was inspired by our intuitive youth to shine a light on societal issues such as anxiety, trauma, depression, bullying, body dysmorphia, and external dependencies through my fictional cast.I am an advocate for children, women, equality, and self-healing journeys. I believe that we are all connected through the powerful energetic force of love. So, every book I write reflects my insights and philosophical experiences which may resonate with my readers.

What’s on your top 5 list for the best books you’ve ever read?

I have read so many incredible books over the past few decades, it’s difficult to narrow it down to the top five. Since publishing my debut novel, Heart of a Warrior Angel on July 31, 2019, I have supported the writing community on Twitter and devoured incredible novels by talented indie and self-published authors.

But if I had to choose the most memorable books for me, I will have to say that some of the classics that have impacted me as a youth were “Anna Karenina” and “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy, “East of Eden” by John Steinman, “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas, and my childhood favorite, “Around the World in Eighty Days” by Jules Verne. Throw in some books from Dan Brown, Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, Stephen King, Tom Clancy, and you’ll know what to expect from my eclectic private library collection.

Say you’re the host of a literary talk show. Who would be your first guest? What would you want to ask?

I would love to interview Shakespeare, but from our current timeline, it would have to be the New York Times, best-selling author, Dan Brown. I’m a huge fan of his books The DaVinci Code and Angels and Demons. There is so much wealth of information and research that went into those books. I would love to ask him how he managed to tackle the philosophical and scientific bedrocks of a higher existence, written with an action-packed plot and fascinating character development.

What’s your favorite thing about writing?

I really enjoy structuring scenes with multi-dimensional settings that enable the character development and motivations. It’s important for me to maintain good pacing as I showcase multiple point of views, exploring their unique emotional journeys. I put myself in the reader’s mind as I develop the gripping conflict with a slow burn, ensuring that each scene takeaway keeps the reader hooked throughout the book to visualize the resolution. It’s incredible to take the reader on an emotional roller coaster ride as they take the time to submerge themselves into my magical and empowering realms.

For example, in The De-Coding of Jo: Blade of Truth, I really enjoyed outlining the epic plot where the stakes are high, the world is in peril, and the conflict disrupts Jo’s storyline with disillusionment of her emotional vortex. The action-packed scenes in chapter 11, Cosmic Reboot, and chapter 12, The Great Escape, bringing Jo and Roma face to face with the shapeshifting Lizzie, the Wizard of Bondage, in a colossal battle between good and evil.

What is a typical day like for you?

During the day, I work full time as a senior advisor, assisting in government policy and strategy development for vulnerable populations. I have always loved writing through briefings and presentations, especially focusing on cohesive storytelling. It’s a passion and a creative outlet that I have had since I was a child. In fact, my mom recently reminded me that I used to write her poetry when I was 6 or 7 years old, which I have totally forgotten!

With a full time, job, I try to focus on my writing projects primarily on the weekends. I can be on the computer for 5 or 6 hours, letting the inspiration guide me. Since I’m a plotter, I like to start with the book title and table of contents when I outline the plot structure, the initiating incidents, developmental arc, crisis, and resolution. Then I develop the character arcs, breathing life into each protagonist and antagonist. Normally, when I’m in the writing flow, I don’t realize the amount of time that goes by. As long as I have my bowel of skittles to sustain me, then I’m happy!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Each of my incarnated angel novel incorporates a consistent logo on the back of the book to highlight my signature brand, with the motto “Turn on Your Inner Light and Illuminate the World”. I also write uplifting and empowering poetry books, where I share my philosophy of life, with the following quote:

“When we operate from the space of heart-centered consciousness, every Soul becomes our mirror and our teacher. We are all connected within this web of radiant life force energy called Love.” —Lali A. Love
