Interview with Jenny Hale, Author of Butterfly Sisters

23 Feb 2022

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Butterfly Sisters?

This book is about two sisters–one, a creative, and the other, an academic. It’s inspired by the two sides of me. I am a creative but was raised an academic, and what I found was that it takes both sides of me to fulfill the purpose in my life. I wanted the sisters to learn the same thing. Like a butterfly emerging after transformation, we need the struggle to find our wings.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

I love to read my genre and also non-fiction.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

The Path to Sunshine Cove by RaeAnne Thayne and Riverbend Gap by Denise Hunter.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The scene where Colton sees Leigh for the first time.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I do my best writing at coffee shops and will usually go daily to get my writing done.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

“Do it anyway.” Whenever I hear myself say, “I can’t,” I tell myself to do it anyway.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

That we all need to be seen and heard, and above all else, to be loved.
