Interview with James Rosone, Author of Rise of the Republic

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Rise of the Republic?

I enjoy science fiction books and wanted to create a fictitious world where humans have just reached the ability to travel the stars and discover what’s out there. I think SpaceX and the reality that we are not far off from beginning our journey beyond Earth is what really inspired me to dive into creating this world and series.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Rise of the Republic, what would they be?

Viking battle music, yeah, that’s what I think many of my characters would choose as a theme.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Biographies, historical fiction, technothrillers, and military SciFi!

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Working on the new Elon Musk book, The Invisible Machine, Winning the War in Your Mind, and The World Played Chess.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The Orbital HALO insertion that takes place in book three over the planet Intus.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Lots of caffeine!

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

To become the 1%. You must do what the other 99% won’t. That ascribes my work ethic.

Stop caring what other’s thing. That is my life motto.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

This is fiction, an escape from the real world. Try to enjoy the ride and allow yourself to peel away the many layers to this onion of a story I have written. It will blow your mind the deeper you allow yourself to fall down the rabbit hole.
