Interview with Denise Daye, Author of Under Covers

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Under Covers?

I often find myself rooting for unlikely couples when I watch TV, so I try to offer this theme to readers who are right there with me.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Romance. I breathe romance. Always have, always will. I could spend hours, every day, reading romance novels if I had the time.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I don’t have a specific one picked out yet, but after things calm down with my move and the remodel of my home, I will dive into a steamy, true love romance book.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The scene in which Noah meets Andrei for the first time. It required a lot of thinking to make them both strong and intelligent in different ways.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I mostly write when my son is asleep. So nap times, etc. There are times when he just fell asleep, and I start writing, and all of a sudden, he starts twitching, and I think to myself, ‘oh oh, not yet, buddy, you just fell asleep… Mama needs more time.’

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Every day is a new day, every moment is a new moment.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

Every reader is so different. Some might remember a character, others a dialogue. I love to read reviews as it really tells me how readers felt reading my book. It is similar to the joy of cooking for others and then watching them eat and hoping they will like it.
