What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Beyond the Song?

I wanted to write about coming of age in the late 60s and early 70s and what it was like being part of the counter culture and trying to make it in the music business.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Beyond the Song, what would they be?

I Haven’t Got Time For the Pain – Carly Simon

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Women’s historical fiction.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

Z – A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald by Therese Fowler

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

The scene where Carol Marks meets songwriter Rose McCoy while waiting for her voice lesson.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

Mornings with lots of coffee or sitting at Starbucks or Barnes and Noble.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

My original song – “Grown Up Children Can’t Survive”
