Interview with Annie Cabot, Author of Key Lime Garden Inn

What’s the story behind the story? What inspired you to write Key Lime Garden Inn?

I’ve been traveling to Captiva Island for the last twenty years. I always knew that I would write a story set on the island. I could see my main character, Maggie Wheeler, going through some difficult times and then settling on the island permanently.

If you had to pick theme songs for the main characters of Key Lime Garden Inn, what would they be?

Colbie Caillat – Brighter than the Sun.

What’s your favorite genre to read? Is it the same as your favorite genre to write?

Women’s Fiction. I love to read about women who have overcome traumatic events in their life.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I’m reading Cindy Nichols Newport series currently.

What scene in your book was your favorite to write?

Without a doubt, it was the scene with her witting at the beach alone, reading Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s Gift from the Sea.

Do you have any quirky writing habits? (lucky mugs, cats on laps, etc.)

I’ve got a mini poodle who sits by my side as I write.

Do you have a motto, quote, or philosophy you live by?

Know who you are and celebrate it.

If you could choose one thing for readers to remember after reading your book, what would it be?

I want to lift people up. I hope all my books do that for my readers. I love to be inspired myself, but I feel tremendous joy when I can inspire someone else.
